The Safety Professional Certificate (SPC) is the highest certificate offered by GACA and includes a robust curriculum designed to enhance your knowledge in occupational safety and health. This professional development program will give you the knowledge necessary to tackle the safety challenges that face your organization, develop practical solutions, and apply the skills necessary to maintain a truly safe workplace.
The required amount of time to complete the course is dependent upon your knowledge of workplace safety, but we find that the average completion time is approximately 100 hours. You have up to Three months to complete the course.
Our CERTIFIED SAFETY PROFESSIONAL (CSP) will allow you to do the following:
a) Develop advanced workplace safety management techniques
b) Discover a brand-new perspective of safety that will empower you
c) Perform as a safety expert, manager, and administrator
d) Learn training methodologies that change the way your employees work
e) Avoid civil and criminal liability for accidents and injuries
f) Determine proper interpretation and application of OSHA regulations
g) Establish acceptable analysis and documentation of workplace hazards
h) Manage workplace safety inspections and audits
i) Investigate, analyze, and document workplace accidents and root cause analysis
j) Create and manage a successful safety culture using the latest behavior modification techniques
k) Develop, implement, and manage your own safety programs, saving your company money
l) Learn requirements with OSHA compliance, workplace safety related EPA guidelines and relevant DOT regulations.
m) Manage hazardous materials
n) Learn techniques to prevent workplace violence
o) Develop proper response to emergencies and implement an emergency management program
p) Gain a comprehensive understanding of workplace safety and how to manage safety in your workplace, with emphasis on Behavior Based Safety
Prerequisites and Authorization:
The CERTIFIED SAFETY PROFESSIONAL (CSP) is a stand-alone Certificate. However, GACA designations are designed to be achieved in a step-by-step building block process where each level achieved is a step toward the next higher level. Obtaining the CERTIFIED SAFETY PROFESSIONAL (CSP) requires successful completion of 25 areas of specialization listed below.
Continuing Education Units:
100 CPU’s are offered for this course. As an GACA Accredited Provider, GACA offers GACA CPU’s for its learning events that comply with the GACA Continuing Education and Training Standard. These will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam.
Online Exams:
The student will take an online exam at the end of each specialist course. You must score 80% to receive a Certificate. You have two opportunities to pass each exam.
Recertification:
A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $100.OO Upon completion of this Refresher course, the student does not earn CPU’s. This Refresher course does not require the student to view all material to proceed to the next module. GACA does not allow anyone to issue CPU’s for recertification when students may simply take the recertification exam without viewing course materials.
